We all recognize that self-care tasks are part of life.  As most children grow, they often want to “do it myself!” It’s possible that a child may continue to require non-stop support from parents and teachers to perform these self-care functional tasks.  Parents, caregivers, and teachers can use varying levels of visual and verbal cues to encourage a child to gain independence in personal and hygiene care tasks, but sometimes these cues are just not enough.

Our self-care and hygiene training focus on many personal care skills that children need to develop, including bathing and drying off, hand washing, oral hygiene, screen-free quiet time, nose blowing, covering sneezes, wound care, haircuts, sleeping, toiletry habits, snacking habits, wearing clean clothes, no-touch objects and fluids, handling animals and pets, and adolescent hygiene.
